Elizabeth College

Physical Education and Sports

From Reception to Year 6 the Elizabeth College Junior School children are given many opportunities to improve their physical skills.

At Acorn House, children receive games, dance and movement and PE lessons.

At Beechwood the pupils receive two 60 minute sessions of games per week as well as one period of PE.

The main games are Soccer (Michaelmas Term), Hockey (Lent Term) and Cricket (Trinity Term). In addition Cross Country, Swimming, Athletics, Gymnastics, Movement, Racket and Ball games are arranged as part of the timetable. The games programme focuses attention on hand-eye co-ordination, basic fitness and team skills.

The school maintains strong sporting links with local, UK and Jersey schools; senior pupils have recently taken part in soccer, hockey and cricket tours with Ipswich Prep, Cheltenham Prep, St George’s (Jersey), Magdalene College Junior School (Oxford), Papplewick (Ascot), Denmead (Hampton) and King Edward’s (Bath). Teams also play soccer and cricket matches against Victoria College Preparatory School, Jersey, both home and away. Each Lent Term we host a hockey tournament for visiting schools.
